How to get to Ostrava
The capital of the Moravian-Silesian Region is not difficult to reach. While making your travel arrangements, you can find the following recommendations useful.
BY PLANE
Ostrava – Mosnov, Leos Janacek International Airport (OSR)
The flight duration from the Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague to Ostrava-Mosnov Airport is approximately 45 – 60 min (the distance covered is app. 400 km). More information about the airport www.airport-ostrava.cz/en/
Katowice (Poland) – Pyrzowice Airport (KTW)
Katowice (Pyrzowice) Airport (KTW) is situated about 125 km from Ostrava with an approximately travel time of 1 hour (by bus) to Ostrava. The whole way is a newly-made modern highway. More information about Katowice Airport www.katowice-airport.com/
Krakow (Poland) – Balice Airport (KRK)

Prague-Ruzyne, Vaclav Havel International Airport (followed by train journey)
From Prague, the Vaclav Havel Airport, you can take a direct Airport Express bus (AE) to the Prague Main Railway Station “Praha - Hlavni nadrazi” (the journey takes about 30 to 50 min, buses depart every 20 to 30 min).
You can also take Bus No 119 (departing every 5 to 10 minutes) to “Nadrazi Veleslavin” station and then underground - A Line - to the Museum station, there change to the C Line to the “Hlavni nadrazi” station (takes about 50 min).
Or you can take Bus No 100 to Zlicin station (departing every quarter hour at working time or every half an hour on the evenings and weekends), then underground - B Line - to the Florenc station, there change to the C Line to the “Hlavni nadrazi” station (takes about 55 min.). Then take a train from Prague to the Ostrava-Svinov station.

BY TRAIN
From Prague Main Railway Station (Praha - Hlavni nadrazi) the 400 km distance is covered in 3 to 4 hours. There are more than 30 direct trains a day from Prague to Ostrava. Besides many trains to other destinations in Silesia, Poland and Slovakia via Ostrava, there are currently 3 companies providing regular service between Prague and Ostrava (5 to 10 times per day per company) with a limited amount of stops on the journey and using very comfortable and modern trains.
Train tickets are inexpensive (varied between CZK 130 and 700 – approx. EUR 5-25).

BY CAR
From Praha (Prague) The journey from Prague takes about 4 hours (D1 motorway).
TRAVEL WITHIN OSTRAVA
To explore the city, the easiest way is to take a tram. Tickets can be bought from ticket vending machines or kiosks at most tram stops. The same applies for buses, which are just as comfortable.
